About The Community Foundation
We are an independent charity dedicated to strengthening local communities across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. We are part of the Community Foundation for Staffordshire and Shropshire. We operate together as it brings significant advantages, including helping to pool resources, and keep our management costs low. That means that we can put more money into our communities. We tackle issues of disadvantage and exclusion by building permanent endowments and awarding grants. We are one of more than 40 community foundations throughout the United Kingdom, and we are a member of ‘UKCF‘, who promote closer working and opportunities for all recognised community foundations throughout the country. Every county in England has access to a local community foundation, although some will cover 2 counties, such as Two Ridings (which covers the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire), Lancashire & Merseyside, Warwickshire & West Midlands Combined Authority area, and Staffordshire & Shropshire. There are national Community Foundations in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. UKCF also has a few overseas members, including community foundations in Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and Bermuda.
