The Shropshire Charity Network holds free informal bi-monthly virtual meetings
for people in Shropshire working in the charity sector in the county. The group also hosts face to face sessions, with two in person meetings planned for 2022.
The Shropshire Charity Network was founded in 2019 and is run by Victoria Handbury-Madin, Emma Croall and Clair Moelwyn-Williams, in partnership with The Community Foundation.
The group was set up to give people a platform to make new connections within the charity sector in Shropshire. The regular events give attendees the opportunity to discuss the potential to signpost service users to other organisations locally; to share ideas and discuss challenges; to offer support and advice to others in the sector and to explore the opportunity for collaborative working.
Virtual sessions include a presentation on topics that are relevant to the sector. To date these have covered areas such as social media for Charities, HR and staff wellbeing, Fundraising, Trustee Recruitment and Retention, Volunteering, Data Management and Finance. We also aim to ensure some of the sessions have a networking element and this is a particular focus of any face-to-face meetings.
Please email hello@shropshirecharitynetwork.org.uk to find out more and follow us on LinkedIn for updates.
We are excited to share details of our first face to face meeting of 2022! This will be a networking meeting, enabling us all to meet in person, to catch up with familiar faces and make new connections.
The session is free to attend but we ask if your situation changes, and you can’t make it, that you please cancel your booking so that we are aware of final numbers on the day.
At this session our speaker will be Catherine Buckley, from Catherine Buckley PR. In the session Catherine will cover, what is a story and how to write it, where to send it and how to maximise its potential of being covered, and PR and events planning. She will also touch on working with PR firms, what they can offer you and the associated costs.
Catherine specialises in PR and content creation – utilising nearly 20 years of experience as a senior reporter and women’s editor and in corporate comms and PR/campaign management roles. Catherine’s clients cover sectors including construction, property, business, the arts, education, care, charity and events. She also really loves writing and writes for two award-winning UK-based content companies with a global reach.
We will also hear from Anna Rose Bowler, Digital Marketing Specialist at A Good Thing CIC. A Good Thing CIC, matchmake businesses who care with amazing local charities. They make it easy for businesses to donate unwanted items to local charities. They believe in the circular economy – sending less to landfill and more to a good cause. Since their launch in Shropshire in April they have had over 25 local charities and NFP’s sign up and made their first match! Find out more: https://www.agoodthing.org.uk/.
